Long before Dorothy drops in, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
WICKED currently has nine productions around the world, in New York, London, Japan (Tokyo), Australia/New Zealand (Auckland), South Korea (Seoul), Latin America (Mexico City), a U.K. Tour, and two concurrent North American National Tours. Since its New York premiere a decade ago, the show has grossed over $3.1 billion worldwide and has been seen by over 38 million across the globe. Truly a global phenomenon, the musical has been seen in over 100 cities in 11 countries around the world and has thus far been translated into five languages: Japanese, German, Dutch, Spanish, and Korean.
WICKED is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
